Approach
Our approach is based on a combination of our content management experience, industry best practice and the PRINCE 2 methodology.
Our projects follow the traditional waterfall model comprising definition, design, development, deployment, and maintainance. We have also used Rapid Application Development which is especially suited to vertical market solutions produced by some vendors.
The four key areas of the approach are:
- Users - the users of the system. We make an analysis of their roles and responsibilities and requirements from the system. These users can then be defined, grouped and called upon to review and test the final requirements.
- Process - Having defined the users of the system we are then able to make an informed analysis of the interactions between users and groups and their interactions with the system.
- Content - Content here can be of any type from web content to documents, multimedia items and source code. With knowledge of the users and the business process in place, we start to look at the content they are managing and how they require this to be done.
- Structure - Structuring the system into a detailed architecture map is the final stage -- bringing together users, business process and content into a coherent visual representation of the system. This can then be translated into a detailed written functional and technical specification for sign off.
